Bulerías Solidification Sessions

Its about solidifying what you’ve learned about bulerías so far.
This is a time to play with past material, continue practicing hearing what you need to hear in the cante – in cante that varies, we’ll have more new letras and coletillas to dance to – and responding as you need to respond.   It is a time to clarify any questions that arise.  The study of bulerías is an ongoing process Here we will work on becoming more comfortable responding to the cante and the compás.  Here we will use our time to allow both the dance moves and the jaleos to happen more naturally and with more ease.

When:
Saturdays in May – 2:30 – 4:00

Will we learn new material?
Yes, but you’ll also use material you’ve already learned.  (perhaps here, perhaps somewhere else)  We will focus on accessing and implementing our current moves without struggle, understanding why we do things where we do them in the dance.  We will look at the different parts and work with moving them around to form our “own” pieces.   So, we will work with past material to better learn it and to get it flowing freely.  We will also further deepen our understanding of the compás and to be able to execute our jaleos with animo and confidence.  In other words, we’ll play with pieces we have, see what it feels like to mix and match the moves.  And, if you are ready and wanting to, we can absolutely learn some new moves that can be substituted!  [And we WILL learn to dance to some new letras and coletillas]

Is there a prerequisite?
It is best to have taken the Ins & Outs of Bulerías de Jerez or to have studied bulerías with me previously.  If you haven’t done this, contact me and we’ll talk about whether or not this would be a good class for you.

But, wait, I MISSED the Understanding Bulerías Series
That’s ok, I will be teaching it again, as soon as you’re ready.  Let me know if you’re interested, and once we have a minimum number of people, we’ll start it over again.  (You might also like to take some private or semi-private lessons to get you up to speed.)
